Indonesia has extended the Free Visitor Visa to the citizens of most countries to date. Citizen of eligible countries can obtain a free-of-charge visa-on-arrival valid for a 30 day stay in Indonesia. Is there Malaria in Papua?
Yes, Malaria is present in Papua. Although there are surprisingly few mosquitoes on the island itself, as Pulau Pef is a kind of isolated. It is recommended that you take care and exercise common sense, particularly at dawn and dusk. The liberal use of mosquito repellent is highly recommended, especially when passing through populous areas such as Sorong. Bear in mind that some malarial prophylactics cause adverse reactions in divers e.g. Lariam, so please discuss your travel plans with your doctor/ travel clinic. Back to top

The scheduled boat transfer to Pulau Pef departs on Saturdays from Sorong at 10:00am. The boat will only wait for delayed flights with scheduled arriving time in Sorong at latest 09:30am and will only wait until 12:00pm (noon). In case your flight is delayed or cancelled please inform our office in Sorong Tel. +62 811 485 7711.
All guests will be transferred back to Sorong by boat on Friday afternoon for an overnight stay in Sorong.
The following morning, Saturday, we will help you with the check-in. Our staff in Sorong will tell you on Friday evening at the hotel what time to bring your luggage, passport and ticket to the lobby for proceeding the check-in.
If you make a direct booking with us, you arrange your international flights to Jakarta, Manado or Ujung Pandang (Makassar) and book your domestic flights with Nusatrip. You should arrive in Sorong at latest 09:30am to catch the transfer boat at 10.00am. Back to top
What happens when I arrive in Jakarta?
To check-in for the domestic flight you have to change the terminal which takes about 15 minutes by bus or taxi. Depending on your arrival time you might have to wait for a long time. We recommend guests to make use of the Saphire Lounge due to its convenient location at the arrival gate. You will pay an entrance fee for 4 hours including food, drinks, shower and Wi-Fi. You will need to arrive in Sorong on a Saturday, in order to take the scheduled 10:00 boat transfer to the island. The boat will only wait for flights with scheduled arriving time before 09:30am and is only waiting for delayed flights until 12:00pm (noon). At Sorong airport you will be met by Raja4Divers staff. You will be assisted with clearance and baggage. You will then be shuttled to the hotel for a rest (bathroom), before taking the transfer boat to the island at 10:00. Back to top
How long is the boat transfer to the island?
Approximately 3,5 hrs, depending on conditions. The boat cuts across the Dampier Strait over generally calm seas, with Salawati and Batanta on the port side (keep an eye out for whales and dolphins en route), continuing west in the direction of Pulau Pef. Back to top
What do I need to take with me on the boat transfer?
Sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, a light waterproof wind breaker and your camera could all come in handy on the boat.
There is no toilet on board. Raja4Divers staff in Sorong will arrange a pit stop at the Hotel in Sorong before departure. There is also enough time for a coffee or other refreshments there. During the boat ride a toilet stop could be arranged at one of the many beaches along the way, simply advise the crew if it is urgent. Back to top
What do I need to have ready on arrival at the resort?
Please have the following ready to hand in at the briefing shortly after arrival:
Passport (for photo-copies, it will be returned to you as soon as photo copies have been made)
4 x passport photos per person (for guest registration - free of charge)

Scuba diving certification card
Enriched Air certification card for Nitrox users
Proof/ membership card for valid diving insurance that covers emergency evacuation
For divers who have previously experienced DCS: A letter from a hyperbaric doctor clearing them for diving.
About IDR 2 million in cash (roughly equivalent to USD 200) should cover for Marine Park fee, snacks during travel and dinner in Sorong.
Be sure that you have enough IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) cash on you for excess luggage charges on the domestic flights. The stipulated luggage allowance per person is between 10 and 20 kg depending on airline/route/aircraft type.Depending on the airline/ route/ aircraft type rates for excess luggage are typically between IDR 30 000 and IDR 50 000 per kilo but the rates in Indonesia tend to fluctuate without notice. Mention during check-in that you have diving gear, occasionally the rate becomes negotiable.

What is the best time of year to visit?
Open for diving and snorkelling year round, unlike other parts of Indonesia, weather patterns in the central Raja Ampat are much more stable, with less distinct dry and rainy seasons. Diving and snorkelling conditions are good year round and water temperature is a constant 28°-30°C (82°-86°F), with visibility averaging 10-20m. Back to top

What shall I take with me on the kayak?

How do I make payment for incidentals on the island?
Any incidentals at the resort should be paid in cash (EURO, IDR, USD, CHF) before departure (bar tabs, souvenirs, gratuities, extra dives, rentals and specialized services). USD cash notes should be in pristine condition, un-torn, un-marked and printed after 2006, or they may not be accepted in Indonesia. Regret no credit card facilities, no traveller's cheques. Travel insurance is strongly advised for all guests, and should be purchased well in advance of their trip in order to cover for any situations beyond the guest's or operator's control including but not limited to ill health, inclement weather, airline strikes, flight delays/cancellations and all other general mishaps which might affect a scheduled trip in any adverse way. There is no cell phone signal and no landline on the island.
We have broadband satellite internet, with Wi-Fi & iPad available in your bungalow.
